Hummingbird Hawk-moth

Posted by Harald (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) on 23 July 2007 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

is a species of hawk moth with a long proboscis and is capable of hovering in place. It making an audible humming noise. These two features make it look remarkably like a hummingbird when it feeds on flowers. It flies during the day, especially in bright sunshine, but also at dusk, dawn and even in the rain.
I try since a long while to get an picture from this quick insect. And i´ve been very lucky to got this morning my chance for this picture in our garden.
